Surprise, surprise…we are moving! Not only did my site get a makeover, but Domicile 37 will be in a whole new location. The mister was offered a job (maybe even the job of his dreams) and we had to jump all over it. With this move comes a whole new house. Yep, you read that right…A NEW HOUSE, no more rental living. If you are an insider (subscribed to my site) I plan to give some insight on my new home, so subscribe if you want all the juicy details FIRST!
Talk about juicy details, I always said I wanted plank wooden floors with a pickled finish…BUT, it will clash with the other flooring in the house. So, I have been asking around on whether or not I should go black (maybe even a dark blackish-green) or white. The mister and I like the look of both and I have asked two different forums which they would prefer. It was pretty much a split decision with one forum saying, “go black,” and the other saying, “go white.” They also shared their views on why, let me not forget to mention that. I have yet to physically walk-through our new house and I have been stressing out about this decision since this is one of the first things that we will be changing in the house.
Basically, this whole flooring dilemma is not about painting something black or white, it is honestly about expressing myself. My style is not monotonous as those two colors may seem on paper, it is filled with mood, sass, attitude, edge, whim, and so much more. I have felt trapped for so long and I feel like I am looking for my way out…artistically. I have had so many detours after college that has molded me and my style and I see this new opportunity as a stepping stone to where I want to go. As an interior stylist, I deem this opportunity as a chance to fly free and not be constricted…I just want to do myself justice. I have never been one to follow the crowd, but I have been one to think about “others” before I do something. This time, the only person I want to think about is me…and my immediate family’s needs. I do not know how long we will be in this house and I have had individuals say to me, don’t do this, do that….keep it neutral. What fun is that? Well, whatever color I decide to paint the floor, hopefully it will help in the evolution of my style and allow me to spread my wings fly.
