It is that time again! When spring and fall hit bloggers usually go into a frenzy because the One Room Challenge is going on. For those of you who are new or have never heard of the ORC, it is hosted by Linda from Calling it Home. It is a home decor room challenge that last for six weeks, with us revealing our spruced up space the last week. For this Spring challenge I contemplated making over my girls’ room or my guest bathroom and ended up choosing the kids. We (the girls and I) have been trying to come up with a concept for the past six months that we all can agree upon. Today I will be sharing some of the vision boards that we collectively created. I have two daughters, different ages, both mature to some degree. Unlike my son, they did not ask for a character room, instead they what they asked for was a room they could grow into.
Things that my girls asked for:
Paint on the walls, Lily pad or floral wall paper, separate beds, their own space, and some whimsical home decor.
Shared Girls’ Room Vision Board #1
This was the first board I came up with using furniture we already had stashed for their room, bedding they chose, and art that they chose off of Society 6. If we were to go forward with this room, I envisioned the room being a soft pink or apricot color with a bold trim, velvet curtains, and a somewhat eclectic bohemian vibe. Unfortunately, we could not agree on the right shade of pink. One of my daughters wanted neon pink the other ended up not wanting pink at all.
Shared Girls’ Bedroom Vision Board #2
This my friend, is the second vision board that we came up using some of the same elements from vision board #1. The paint color would have been an jewel tone green, with golden yellow curtains, and entomology art. We all love that art!!!! I really wanted to move forward with this plan since it would be cheapest out of all three to put together because all I would need to buy is the art, curtains, and lighting but they kept on mentioning lily pads and flowers.
Shared Girls’ Room Vision Board #3
We could not find any cute lily pad wallpaper or stencils, so we started looking for floral wallpaper. My youngest daughter really wanted a Chinoiserie wall ($$$$$$$) but after finding this gem from Walls Need Love, we decided to run with it. Since I am not a matchy matchy type of person I chose to go with a bold but subtle paint color. This room is going exude mood! Since the wallpaper is so busy, I will be DIYing twin upholstered headboards using left over material from when I reupholstered my couch. I will be working with Behr Paint, Walls Need Love, Lamps Plus, Velvet Finishes, Brookly and World Market to help bring this room together.
