Hey guys! I just want to shout it out to the world…I DID IT! I had a vision of what I wanted and I made it happen with little to no money. Guys, I am so happy to bring you this Alexander McQueen Inspired Monarch Tablescape! It is something I had been dreaming about since the summer so when Ariel from PMQ for Two asked me to join her Halloween tablescape, I was all in!

I really love to mix fashion and decor, between me and you some of my style choices are not always current or trendy, but that is okay…it always works out in the end. Like I stated earlier, I have been itching to do something inspired by Alexander Mcqueen and I thought he would make for a great theme for Halloween, so I went for it. With this particular tablescape, I found myself doubting my abilities to actually pull it off and I almost painted everything white, even the butterflies. My intuition got the best of me and before I busted out the spray paint I decided to set up the table the way I envisioned it and the rest is history! Although this tablescape is not creepy in the gothic-gaudy way that Alexander McQueen was famous for, I believe that this setting is quite eerie and dark just like the famous designer. If I am being open and honest, this whole tablescape kinda gives me the whole skeletons in the jungle vibe. Haha!

The way I set up this table was more like a table for two. I wanted to feel intimate but yet full. I know that this particular setup would not be ideal for an actual “REAL” table setting, but if done on a larger table it could work. The foundation is there and this is just the base for inspiration. However, knowing myself, I would make this work with the mister and just do a buffet style dinner so the setting does not get messed up. That is how savage I am!!!
When it comes to seasonal decor, I try to be a resourceful and CHEAP as possible. For this post, all I purchased were the butterflies. In my craft stash, I have bright funky butterflies, but I wanted something more tone down and looks real so I went to the dollar store and purchased as much monarch looking butterflies as I possibly could find. The smaller butterflies I purchased at my local craft store. I wanted all the butterflies to look the same, unfortunately someone else bought up all the butterflies at all the other dollar store locations in my town….they probably were thinking the same thing I was, who knows!
You are probably asking yourself, why monarch butterflies? Well friends, one of Alexander McQueens most famous standout pieces was the Monarch dress, see HERE. If this dress looks familiar, the character Effie Trinket wore it in the movie Hunger Games, see HERE. If only!…someday, I am going to make me a costume similar to that dress! #hearteyes
Guys, I really love this tablescape and to be honest, It is my favorite tablescape of time that I created. I am sitting here thinking about what I am going to create next Halloween! If you have yet to do so, don’t forget to go check-out the other participants:

Thanks! Yeah, they think it is cool. They said the butterflies don’t make it creepy. Since I have skulls around the house they are used to it.
