Hello guys and welcome to week three of the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living. For the record guys, if you are looking for a “pretty” post this one is not it! It would most certainly be an understatement if I said I was not worried about this challenge….I am terrified that I have not completed much. However, I did lay the flooring and I cleared out my closet. Yesterday, I actually started building the closet up….so that is a start. I plan to finish the build up this week and hopefully start painting. I think painting will take the bulk of my time.
I took this picture to show you how the previous owners rigged this thing up. Crazy, huh? I kid you not, I thought those poles would break on us. I also realized that they hung the poles lower than normal. Taking down all this stuff took me a couple of hours on top of pulling up the carpet. Taking the staples and tacks out of the floor took me a couple of hours….AND laying that beast, yes, I am calling peel and stick tile a “beast” seemed like it took me forever. I don’t know why it took me so long…well, I actually do…the perfectionist in me who comes out every so often kept pulling up the tile after I laid them because I did not like the pattern. The crawl space door kept messing with my flow of things (it was installed crooked…not really parallel with anything) and after pulling up the pattern about 2-3 times, I gave up and just said do whatever!…no one will notice but me. You can barely even see the lines unless the light shines on it. I sound like a complete nut. The funny thing is I laid peel and stick in the past and I don’t remember it giving me this much problem…I don’t even remember it taking me long to do. I think my game may have just been off.
See…I had it all figured out, not sure what happened. I ripped out the carpet, cleaned up the floor, and laid out my pattern just to end up with a very random pattern that I ain’t mad about. I have reached the decision to just, let it be. Enough with that. This week, I also purchased a nice wool blanket to use for my bedding….it’s a surprise, but I am pretty sure if you follow me on insta, I will show it to you sometime this week….It’s so pretty!
I think I found my headboard. I am suppose to be picking this up later this week. It is one of the only headboards that I came across that I actually like. I like the wood tone and cane work, however I am not sure if it will go with my space. I definitely was thinking traditional in terms of headboard, but I did not really have anything in mind. On a sidenote, I just realized…I am confusing you. Haha! I promise you, I am writing this post awake! Let me break it down. When I shared my plans with y’all, I said I would be working on my closets. However, I just realized that I have light fixtures that are being sponsored with this challenge that go in my bedroom. EEEeeek. So my goal is to do triple duty (accessory closet, shared closet, and part of my bedroom). My weekend is clear this week so I am hoping to knock most of it out then. I know, I sound like I am all over the place….I am! I am still waiting on product to come in but I am feeling confident that it will be in sometime this week. On another note, I took the word, “refresh,” to a whole other level! Wish me luck and follow me on Instagram to see me and my spaces in action!
