Sharing how to make shiplap cool for week 4 of the New Year, New Room Challenge hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins.
For real, for real…This started out as a I hate shiplap post, but the title did not ring to my liking. Before I start, let me just say, someone should have knocked me over my head when I was thinking of shiplap. Y’all know, I don’t like shiplap, I don’t like shiplap, I.DONT.LIKE.SHIPLAP!!! What was I thinking?????? Shiplap and paneling are two different things and I tried to convince myself that what I was doing was applying paneling to my ceiling when in actuality…it was shiplap….imperfect and everything.
I woke up one day and I was like, no ma, I am not feeling this!!! I wasn’t going to pull it off, so I started thinking outside of the box to make this work with my design scheme. I took some rounded moulding and nailed it to the seams. I carried this technique up to the ceiling and to be honest, I even thought about painting the ceiling black to modernize it a bit, but everyone said, “NO!”.
Here is a close up of what is going on….not to shabby, eh?
You will need an extra pair of hands if you decide to apply this technique to your ceiling. I actually had to employ by daughter to help me, she is such a champ and I appreciate her so much for all that she does to make sure momma stays sane and doesn’t turn into the hulk…LOL!
Now tell me, doesn’t this look hella cooler than shiplap?
