Oh, my wow!!!! This is week three of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living and I have been doing A LOT of painting. So today I will be sharing with y’all the lazy gal’s guide to painting textured walls and guys, there is not much to it. If you follow me on Instagram, I have shared this tip there!!!
Just note, although these tips are easy to follow, painting this type of wall does take longer than a normal wall. So, if you’re in a rush then be sure to hire professional painters Charlottesville to get the job done. It’ll be quicker and they’ll already have the equipment and experience to deal with the texture.
If you live in an older house like me, you more than likely have walls that look like this. My house was built in 1957 and 1/3rd of the wall in my house have texture, another 1/3rd has panels, and the last 1/3rd is plain. I am pretty sure the texture is not original to the house…PRETTY SURE about that.
Besides the paint, all you pretty much need is this Handi-Painter by Shur-Line. You can purchase this at your local Home Depot and most professional painters use them. I like to use the disposal one because it makes for easy clean up and has a handle. I tried the other stuff and it is a NO!
Steps to Painting Textured Walls
- Gather materials- paint, paint stick, and hand-painter
- With your paint stick, mix your paint
- With your paint stick, scoop some paint and apply it to your hands-painter (like image below) and get to painting.
This may sound crazy, but I painted my whole laundry room walls using less than 1/8 of a can. I kid you not that this method has saved me time, money, and paint. If you remember when I spruced up my Girls’ shared bedroom, I painted their room a nice muddy green…let me say, their room is huge like 16’x18′ and I used half a can of paint, one coat, with minor touchups. I am telling you this method is like magic.
What do you think? Will you be giving this painting method a try for yourself? Just remember, there is no shame in reaching out to a painting contractor if you do not trust your own painting skills! Besides, not everyone has the time to take on these types of home improvement projects on their own.
