I decided to take on my hallway on top of the girls’ room for the One Room Challenge. If you are not familiar with this challenge it is hosted by Linda from Calling it Home and is huge amongst DIY and Home Decor bloggers. This is a challenge we plan months and months and months in advance for. Above is a split picture of what my hallway used to look like. Not bad, eh?
This was my hallway yesterday. I do not know know what all that stuff on the floor is, I think it is from when they applied the textured ceiling…not sure, but I refuse to scrape it. However I did prime over the subfloor because it stunk. In all honesty, the hallway was disgusting. The rug was super dirty (I think it may have even been dirtier than the one that was in the bathroom), the walls were dingy, and the doors had another layer of disgust. Overall, the hallway has seen better days and may have just been the ugliest part of this house. I know, that is a reach. I have to replace one all of baseboard’s and I plan to paint all the doors black along with the built-ins. I love the hardware on my built-ins so that is staying. We (the mister and I) thought we it is best to do a white trim around the doors just to keep the space a little airy, since the floors will be black.
Since my hands are full, I decided to keep with the black and white theme in the hall and add special touches. I would like to personalize the space using photos of my children. I have a vintage brass plant stand that I plan to incorporate into the space. I will be collaborating with the lovely Nostalgic Warehouse and WOCA flooring for this space as well. I am hoping to buy a nice vintage runner for this space to add some interest, color, and texture. So far this is the plan I am sticking to it, eeeek!
Don’t forget to check out the girls’ room! See, here!
